Animals hide and hop and sniff and sneak and peek and peep! We play too!
"kimetawanaw" in Cree means WE ALL PLAY in English, and is pronounced: kit-may-TUH-waa-now. We all love to play!
First Nation indigenous artist Julie Flett, a Cree-Metis author and illustrator, has created another lovely, lyrical story, with simple text, beautifully illustrated with her trademark collage like illustrations. Her colour pallet choice reflects the colours in the landscape she loves so much. A beautiful ode to the creatures of the northern landscape, and all the little children who love to play too.
Julie Flett is proud of her Cree-Metis heritage. She includes a glossary for a few words used in the story. Her books have been chosen as Canada's First Nation Communities READ title selections.
